< Back to BlogWe’ve been exploring how to make drone tracking not just functional but engaging. That’s where gamification in our Radar mobile app comes in.
With the launch of our new Radar Rewards, we’re taking the first step in transforming your everyday drone scanning into a rewarding, game-like experience that keeps you engaged, curious, and coming back for more.
At its core, gamification is about motivation. We wanted to add a layer to our Radar mobile app that sparked personal goals, progress tracking, and a sense of achievement.
For the first iteration of our rewards program, we've introduced daily quests to turn passive drone sightings into intentional actions.
Each quest shows:
The addition of daily tasks tap into intrinsic motivators like completion, mastery, and exploration, the core principles of game design. We’ve also included seasonal leaderboards to add a layer of friendly competition.
The goal of gamifying Radar was to create a more engaging and purposeful user experience. By introducing daily quests, we’re turning passive drone tracking into intentional interaction.
Clear goals, visual progress, and instant feedback help users feel like their actions matter. This taps into key UX principles like intrinsic motivation, habit formation, and progress visibility. Our aim is to make drone scanning feel rewarding, not routine.
The system is designed to be low-friction and seamless with our current user experience. There’s no need to learn something new as users are rewarded for doing something they already enjoy.
Overall, this update is about creating lightweight, satisfying loops that keep users coming back while laying the groundwork for deeper engagement in future updates.
Along with daily quests, we’ll introduce season events such as Drone Rush. These short, real-time events reward users for scanning drones in designated hot zones with reward multipliers (e.g., 5x points), encouraging user engagement by allowing users to earn more points for a limited time.
From the user experience side, we kept it lightweight and integrated. Quests appear naturally within your radar activity. We designed the system in a modular way, which means we’ll be rolling out new quest types, special events, and more over time.
